Dow Polyurethanes has announced that
its supply of toluene diisocyanate (TDI)
will be extremely tight for the remainder
of 2002. As a result, Dow will place
its TDI supply in North America and
Pacific on order control until further
notice. This decision comes as a result
of equipment failure that caused the
company to shut down its Freeport, TX
TDI train.
“We are working very hard to resolve
the equipment issue at the Freeport
site and will do everything possible to
minimize the effect this will have on
our customers,” said Marco Levi, Dow
Polyurethanes, global business director.
“We intend to have the plant up
and running as quickly as possible, but
as always, our first priority is the safety
of our employees.”
